We provide all individuals the opportunity to play, learn, and explore. We do this by removing barriers to participation, fostering an inclusive culture, and offering programs that celebrate the district’s diverse population. We are committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access (DEIA) and want to see this value infused in all THPRD’s work.
Financial Aid Program
Our Financial Aid Program is one of the many ways THPRD is working toward removing barriers to participation, and ensure all district users have access to our services. Eligible households receive up to $300 per person to use for classes, programs and other recreational opportunities. The program is led by a Bilingual Financial Aide and all materials are in English and Spanish. For more information go to: In English | In Spanish
Free Mobile Recreation
THPRD's Rec Mobile Program provides free athletic, artistic, nature, and educational programs at local schools (in conjunctions with their meal programs), parks, housing complexes and spaces shared with partner organizations. Our appointed vehicles have been equipped with sports, nature and recreation equipment, arts and craft supplies and more. This program, includes:
This district-wide free program offers a variety of free family-friendly fitness opportunities available to everyone throughout the area. This activity helps community members achieve their fitness goals while connecting to nature, parks and trails. *Classes in Spanish available. Link coming soon.
Centro de Bienvenida
THPRD hosts Centro de Bienvenida a series of events to support financial aid families and/or English Language Learners (ELLs) in clas selection and registration, as well as to provide meaningful access to THPRD resources, activities and spaces. During these events, bilingual staff and volunteers support patrons in the selection and registration to classes and activities. We have interpretation services available in other languages, additional to English and Spanish. Link coming soon
THPRD Giving Drive
Every year, during the December Holiday Season THPRD patrons and employees work with the Beaverton School District and other community partners to create a brighter holiday season for those in need in the Beaverton area.
Rec Mobile –Free Summer camps
During the summer, the Rec Mobile partners with the Beaverton School District to offer free day camp programs at free summer meal sites. The Rec Mobile sends out two crews, Monday-Friday, to visit different schools, parks and apartment complexes. The crews remain at each site for 3 hours and with sports activities, games, arts & crafts and more. 2019.
Rec Mobile – Free activities during Spring and Winter Break
In March and December, the Rec Mobile visits apartment complexes in the district to provide youth ages 5+ with free activities. 2019.
Rec Mobile – Free Wild Wednesday!
From September to May the Rec Mobile visits different sites and provides free games, crafts, and other activities.
Happening at different apartment complexes: LynMarie Apartments, Willow Springs, Spencer House, Fircrest Manor. 2019.
Rec Mobile – Free Friday Night Fun
From September to May, every 4th Friday the Rec Mobile is at the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Station 67 for free games, crafts, and more. 2019.
Rec Mobile – Special events year-round
The Rec Mobile attends qualifying community events within THPRD boundaries.
Walk with me
A free event happening every year where families join an instructor for a 2-4 mile walk in a THPRD park. This activity promotes meeting other community members while improving strength and cardio one step at a time. All fitness levels are welcome.
Coat Drive
Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center and Cedar Hills Recreation Center partnered with One Warm Coat to provide gently used coats for our neighbors in need. Also, through other partnerships gift certificates for coats where donated to the community. 2019.
Free Indoor Play Park & Drop-In Gymnastics
Cedar Hills Recreation Center hosts free indoor playground playtime and gymnastics for children from 3 to 13 years old. 2019.
Letterboxing Activity at Nature Parks
A fun type of scavenger hunt. The Nature Center provides patrons with a clue sheet to be filled, patrons follow the instructions while visiting the Tualatin Hills Nature Center and the Cooper Mountain Nature Park and look for letterboxes. There is a prize once completed. This activity is available in English and Spanish.
Free Open Swim
Free swim sessions every week of the month throughout the district. 2019.
Make a Splash -Free Swimming
THPRD offers free swim lessons through USA Swimming Foundation’s “Make a Splash” initiative.
Meals on Wheels
THPRD hosts Meals on Wheels People who provides lunch to Elsie Stuhr Center guests every Monday through Friday. 2019.
Overnight Safe Parking
Through a partnership between THPRD and Beaverton Family Promise, the district hosts homeless families to stay overnight in one THPRD facility.
Teens for Jeans
Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center partnered with HomePlate, Washington County’s only non-profit provider for young people experiencing homelessness in the Beaverton area. 2019.
Peace Village Summer Camp
A free camp offered at Garden Home Recreation Center, in collaboration with the Tualatin Hills Park Foundation, the Beaverton Rotary Club and Peace Village Global. Peace Village teaches children, youth, and families practical and concrete skills in conflict resolution, empathy, creating inner peace, connecting with the natural world, and collaborative leadership. 2019.
Nature Mobile - Free Summer Activities
From June to august the Nature Mobile will be at different neighborhood parks offering a weekly themed activity.

Equipment Swap
The Athletic Center hosted a sports equipment swap. The event offered families the ability to acquire free donated sports gear. THPRD donated the remainder of the equipment to the Beaverton School District’s summer programs to ensure all the gear went to good use.
Beaverton Family Promise Partnership
The park district hosts families experiencing homelessness for overnight stays in different THPRD locations. 2019.

Family Health and Fitness Day activities
June 8th is declared Family Health and Fitness Day by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Several THPRD facilities offer free activities to celebrate:
Elsie Stuhr offers a Spry & Wise Zumba Gold Dance Party class.
Garden Home Recreation Center offers a free guided bike ride through a THPRD trail.
Cedar Hills Recreation Center offers Family Boot Camp and a Gymnastics Obstacle Course.
Harman has free open swim sessions.
Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center brings out backyard games, including a giant jenga, giant connect four and more. 2019.
