Division Overview
The Park Services division provides for the full life cycle of parks – from the beginning of planning and property acquisition, through the development process, to the ongoing care and oversight of parks, trails, facilities, and natural areas. Departments within the Park Services division will provide the necessary planning, development, interagency coordination, and maintenance to ensure that facilities and amenities meet current and future needs of the community.
Maintenance Operations
The department is part of the Park Services division and provides routine maintenance and repairs, preventative maintenance to all our assets, and high level of internal and external customer service to our fellow employees, and all park and facility guests.
Park Maintenance Operations
Park Maintenance Operations provides a high level of or turf maintenance services to our programmed sports fields (soccer, baseball, softball, football, cricket, and lacrosse fields), along with managing the assets that support each sport. Park maintenance staff maintain hard surface and sand volleyball courts, which include tennis courts, skate parks, outdoor basketball, and volleyball courts. Park maintenance staff perform pre-game, and game maintenance services for youth and adult baseball and softball. Park maintenance staff provide weekly services to all THPRD parks. Weekly services may include play equipment inspections and repairs, drinking fountains, picnic shelters, pathways and trails, benches, irrigation systems, landscaping, turf mowing, community gardens, trash collection, graffiti removal, foot bridges, park signs, concrete pathways, addressing hazard trees, and eliminating outdoor ADA barriers.
Facility Trades
Provides a preventative maintenance program for critical systems and roofs, as well as routine services to address safety concerns. A work order system allows district staff to request maintenance and repair services for facilities which include roofs, building exteriors and interiors, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC components.
Fleet Operations
Fleet Maintenance staff conduct preventative maintenance services and repairs on compact trucks and SUV’s, heavy-duty trucks, tractors, specialized turf mowers, trailers, and power equipment at the THPRD Fanno Creek Service Center. Fleet Maintenance staff analyze vehicles and equipment annually to determine when replacements are coming due. Fleet staff also provide welding and fabrication services, and participate in an equipment share and service program with other Washington County Public agencies.
