Montage of Fanno Farmhouse presented to Sheri Malstrom

John Griffiths, a member of the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District Board of Directors, recently presented Oregon State Representative Sheri Malstrom with a framed photo montage of the historic Fanno Farmhouse.

The farmhouse is located within Rep. Malstrom’s House District 27. It became Washington County’s first registered home in 1859 and remains today at its original site in Beaverton (8405 SW Creekside Place, directly adjacent to THPRD’s Greenway Park).

Pioneer Augustus Fanno built the home for his wife, Rebecca. In 1980, it was donated to THPRD, which restored it with the help of community partners. The Fanno Farmhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The montage, which now hangs in Rep. Malstrom’s Salem office, features a photo of the modern-day farmhouse along with two historic images.

“I’m grateful to THPRD, not only for this montage but for restoring and preserving the house for present and future generations,” Malstrom said. “It’s spirit like this that honors our past and makes the Beaverton area a great place to live, work and play.”
