Garden Home Recreation Center to host Great Pumpkin Hunt on Oct. 25
October 02, 2013
Employees at THPRD’s Garden Home Recreation Center (7475 SW Oleson Rd., Portland) will get into the spirit of the fall season when they host their second annual Great Pumpkin Hunt on Friday, Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m.
This unique event will provide neighbors and guests with an active, Halloween-themed evening perfect for kids 11 and under.
The fun begins in the festive Garden Home gymnasium, where the costumed masses can gather a howling good time that will include snacks, carnival games, crafts and contests. Prizes will be awarded for winners of the candy bag coloring contest, the costume contest and the candy corn count.
Participants are encouraged to bring their flashlights, because after sundown the party moves outside to the GHRC field for the great pumpkin hunt. Separated into three age groups, kids will go off in search for pumpkins and other Halloween treats. Prizes will be awarded for finding the special pumpkins.
“The kids weren’t the only ones who had a great time last year,” said Lisa Payne, program coordinator at Garden Home. “Our entire community enjoyed a safe and festive evening, with great costumes, happy hunting and lots of laughs.”
Parental participation is required at The Great Pumpkin Hunt, which costs $10 per child.
