New Burntwood Park play equipment on the way
Recently, THPRD removed a 30-year-old play structure at Burntwood Park that had reached the end of its lifecycle and was deemed unsafe according to American Society for Testing and Materials & Consumer Product Safety Commission Safety standards.
Because Burntwood Park is located under the powerline easement along the Westside Trail, THPRD has been working with PGE on identifying suitable replacement equipment that would work within the framework of the 1986 license agreement between the two agencies.
This search has yielded new equipment, which will be installed this summer. This equipment is designed with kids age 2-12 in mind. Features include slides (varying from 4' to 6' high), climbing walls and upper body equipment, as well as ground-level activities, including a drum panel, rocket panel, waver panel and steering wheel.
The project to install this new equipment will include universal barrier-free ADA access, an ADA picnic table, park bench and drainage improvements.
The project is expected to begin on May 24 and be completed by the end of August.
