Observed from April 1 to April 30 each year, National Volunteer Month promotes volunteerism and celebrates the contributions of volunteers across the globe, as well as in the United States. Volunteers build bridges within our community, while donating their time, energy and passion to serve and assist the public.
At THPRD, volunteers are vital to providing cultural and community events to the public, surveying local wildlife populations, supporting staff to deliver programs with the public, maintaining our community gardens and natural areas, mentoring local youth on their athletic journey, plus fundraising and advocating for the future of these public resources.
THPRD is deeply rooted in volunteerism and exists today due to the pioneering vision and spirit of our very first volunteers, including Elsie Stuhr, whose efforts led to the creation of THPRD in 1953.
