Contractors are working to complete the Westside Trail segment 18 improvement project. In order to complete sidewalk and ADA improvements at each of the four trail crossings at public right-of-ways, the contractor will need to close sidewalks to public access while the work is being performed.

The work is scheduled to begin before the end of October and last between two to four weeks, depending on weather.
Following is the contractor's plan to mitigate disruptions to public access while the sidewalk improvements are being completed. Focus is being placed on safe passage for pedestrians via the four public right-of-ways that cross the trail project, especially for kids walking to/from Stoller Middle School and Wismer Elementary School.
NW Wendy Lane
- Dates of closures: Start between October 25 and October 31 and last two to four weeks.
- At least one sidewalk (either north or south side of street) will remain open at all times.
- Pedestrians will need to cross street at designated corners to opposite sidewalk to avoid work area.
- "Sidewalk Closed Ahead" AND "Detour" (with a pedestrian walking symbol) signs will be placed at the nearest corners of NW 146th Ave. and NW Crady Ln.
- No crossing guards/flaggers will be provided by the contractor at this location. School has crossing guard at NW Crady Ln.
- Work is anticipated to take place between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon to allow the sidewalk to be open when the Contractor is not actively working the site over the weekends.
NW Lilium Drive
- Dates of closures: Start between October 25 and October 31 and last two to four weeks.
- At least one sidewalk (either north or south side of street) will remain open at all times.
- Pedestrians will need to cross street at designated corners to opposite sidewalk to avoid work area.
- "Sidewalk Closed Ahead" AND "Detour" (with a pedestrian walking symbol) signs will be placed at the nearest corners of NW 146th Ave. and NW Skycrest Pkwy.
- No crossing guards/flaggers will be provided by the contractor at this location.
- Work is anticipated to take place between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon to allow the sidewalk to be open when the Contractor is not actively working the site over the weekends.
NW Laidlaw Road
- Dates of closures: Start between October 25 and October 31 and last two to four weeks.
- At least one sidewalk (either north or south side of street) will remain open at all times.
- Pedestrians will need to cross street at designated corners to opposite sidewalk to avoid work area.
- "Sidewalk Closed Ahead" AND "Detour" (with a pedestrian walking symbol) signs will be placed at the nearest corners of NW 146th Ter. and NW Skycrest Pkwy.
- Contractor will provide flagger at corner of NW Laidlaw Rd. and NW 146th Ter. during school hours to assist with safe crossing. School has crossing guard at NW Skycrest Pkwy.
- Work is anticipated to take place between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon to allow the sidewalk to be open when the Contractor is not actively working the site over the weekends.
NW 147th Avenue
- Dates of closures: Start between October 25 and October 31 and last two to four weeks.
- At least one sidewalk (either north or south side of street) will remain open at all times.
- Pedestrians will need to cross street at designated areas to opposite sidewalk to avoid work area.
- "Sidewalk Closed Ahead" AND "Detour" (with a pedestrian walking symbol) signs will be placed at the nearest designated crossing points in combination with orange cones to delineate the safest on-street accessible routes.
- No crossing guards/flaggers will be provided by the contractor at this location.
- Work is anticipated to take place between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon to allow the sidewalk to be open when the Contractor is not actively working the site over the weekends.
- Dates of closures are subject to change depending on weather and other unforeseen circumstances. THPRD’s project manager will provide regular updates to designated school representatives as they are available.
Please also be advised that east/west access on the Rock Creek Trail at the north end of the project will remain open during this work.
