Bond Oversight Committee
Local volunteer and businessman Frank Angelo has been appointed to a committee that oversees implementation of the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District's 2008 voter-approved bond measure.
Angelo, who will serve a two-year term, is principal and owner of the Angelo Planning Group in Portland. He also sits on the Westside Economic Alliance Board of Directors and is chair of WEA’s Transportation Committee.
Reappointed for new two-year terms were Marc San Soucie (chair), Rob Drake, Boyd Leonard, Rob Massar and Matthew McKean.
The 12-member committee's purpose is to ensure that the Park District meets the objectives of the bond measure and uses the funds as planned. Members focus on delivery of the overall bond measure obligations, not specific projects or activities. Appointments are made by the THPRD Board of Directors.
The committee, which was formed in 2009, reports annually on overall progress in meeting objectives. Members have the opportunity to recommend improvements in efficiency, administration or performance.
Parks Bond Measure 34-156 was approved in November 2008 by voters within the Tualatin Hills district. The measure provides funds for land acquisition and dozens of improvement projects focused on parks, trails, natural area preservation, athletic fields, expansions of the Elsie Stuhr Center and the Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center, and replacement and rehabilitation of aging facilities.
Formed in 1955, THPRD is the largest special park district in Oregon, spanning about 50 square miles and serving more than 220,000 residents in the greater Beaverton area. The district provides year-round recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Offerings include thousands of widely diverse classes, 90 park sites with active recreational amenities, 60 miles of trails, eight swim centers, six recreation centers, and 1,400 acres of natural areas.
