The Natural Resources Volunteer Program fosters stewardship and understanding of natural resources by empowering volunteers to provide envirnomental education programs and enhance wildlife habitat. Both long and short-term volunteer opportunities are provided for members of the community, including individuals and groups.
The Natural Resources Volunteer Program aims to:
- Forge long-term partnerships with volunteers through positive experiences, training and recognition.
- Accomplish program needs for the Natural Resources Department, while increasing the efficiency of staff time and resources.
- Conduct innovative marketing to recruit volunteers.
Our community partnerships provide excellent opportunities for neighbors, school groups, scouts, businesses and civic groups to work together to improve and appreciate our urban parks. We encourage you to become involved at a park in your neighborhood. For more information, please contact Melissa Marcum, Natural Resources Volunteer Coordinator, at (503) 629-6305 x2720 or mmarcum@thprd.org.
And remember to check the Park Improvement page each month for ongoing volunteer opportunities at a park near you!
