Internship Opportunities
The Natural Resources Department has a number of internship opportunities available that fall under two categories,
- Natural Resources Internships; and
- AmeriCorps LINKS Internships.
These internships provide opportunities to gain valuable work experience while volunteering with the Natural Resources Department to accomplish important field and office related tasks.
Natural Resources Internships
Interns are expected to volunteer a minimum of four hours each week for at least six months. The following positions will recieve training from District Staff:
- Nature Education Interns - Interns work with Education staff at the Nature Park Interpretive Center to create and prepare materials for preschool classes. No positions currently available.
- Nature Park Interpretive Center Assistants - Assistants work with District staff to complete office-related tasks, such as data entry, laminating, materials preparation, etc. No positions currently available.
- Leadership In Training Experience (LITE) Interns - This is a junior camp counselor program for youth ages 14 years and up. It is a great career development opportunity for youth, as applicants have to go through interviews, training as camp staff and then work hands-on with youth enrolled in summer camp programs. LITE interns are expected to give a minimum of two full weeks of their summer in order to graduate from the program. No positions currently available.
The Americorps LINKS Internships
These positions will receive extra training through the AmeriCorps program. In addition, interns who complete the requirements of their position will receive a scholarship that can be used for education loans or furthering education. Our LINKS positions include:
- Nature Preschool Intern - We are looking for two preschool interns to work with classes at the Nature Park Interpretive Center. Interns must be able to work a minimum of five hours each week and be available on a Tuesday and/or Thursday morning from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. These positions are open until filled. No positions currently available.
- Nature Mobile Intern - This position assists staff with our mobile education programs at scheduled events. The position runs from April - September 2010. No position currently availabe.
- Nature Explorers Camp Intern - This position assists the Camp Director at the Nature Park Interpretive Center with summer camp activities at the park. The position runs from June - August 2010. No position currently available.
