August 25, 2020: THPRD has expanded its out of school care offerings to offer parents more options moving into the school year. With online school coming, parents are trying to juggle having to go to work while also having a safe place for children to learn. THPRD wants to help! THPRD’s Out of School Program will provide a reliable and consistent place for children to learn, as well as participate in safe and socially enriching activities. Families can sign-up for online support and enrichment activities for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Classrooms will feature stable pods of 10 children and may grow if safety guidelines allow. Limited spots are available now and interest lists are being taken for additional sites. THPRD is working closely with the Beaverton School District to expand locations if there is a need for additional sites.
Details:
• Two Locations: Cedar Hills Recreation Center (11640 SW Park Way) or Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center (9985 SW 125th Ave)
• Hours: Care available from 7:30 am to 6 pm. Learning and enrichment hours will be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
• Cost: The regular monthly cost will be $1,150. Financial aid is available through the district at http://www.thprd.org/activities/financial-aid. (September 2020 cost is $575 due to mid-September start date)
How to Sign-Up: In order to fairly distribute the limited spots available, THPRD has first offered the option to existing families signed up for the district’s THRIVE program, which offers afterschool care during typical school years.
All remaining spots will be available through a lottery system. Applications for the lottery spots will be available on the district’s website at www.thprd.org starting on Friday, August 28th, at 1 pm.
The park district will accept submissions from the public through Thursday, September 3. The lottery spots will be drawn on Friday, September 4, and all successful applicants will be notified by 5 pm on that date. Families will need to confirm their acceptance and pay the September tuition by Tuesday, September 8.
Health and Safety: THPRD will follow all state guidelines in place for childcare operators during the pandemic. Face masks will be required for everyone ages 5 and older. Children will remain in stable pods.
