Project Summary & Public Benefits

The safety of our patrons is one of THPRD's highest concerns. That's why passage of the 2008 bond measure was so important - it allowed the district to attend to important maintenance work and structural upgrades at a number of facilities.

Seismic upgrades were made at the Beaverton Swim Center to bring the building up to current current safety and earthquake standards.

While the building was closed, the entire interior and exterior was painted, which included brightening the pool area considerably by changing the ceiling color from brown to white. Other work included resurfacing the pool tank, replacing water heaters, and piping and upgrading the roof.

The Beaverton Swim Center features a 25-yard pool, two one-meter diving boards, an ADA water entry lift and family changing rooms. The pool, which averages 86 degrees, is available for lap swimming during most open hours, but swim instruction is also available to people of all ages.

For more than five decades, the Beaverton Swim Center has been an important recreational outlet for local residents. About 100,000 children and adults, including more than 400 special needs swimmers, use the facility each year for swim lessons.

The Beaverton Swim Center (12850 SW Third Ave., Beaverton) is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
